If the UMP weren't up, it would have been pretty bad. The PS just lost a very high-profile incumbent.

Of course, or it could've been a very early sign of UMP decline a few months into Sarkozy's presidency, though predicting a nationwide trend based on one constituency in the 95 is quite stupid.
