I think the unknowable element is whether Duke seeking the Federalist nomination hurt him from both the left and the right, basically empowering his opponents.

Maybe that is true...

It was a matter of circumstances that damaged President Duke's standing with the right. I don't know how much him seeking our nomination had to do with it, except that if he did not then he would have had no standing to be damaged. Tongue

A quick and dirty count that could be off by one or two perhaps. I've assumed that both Sir John John and JulioMadrid's votes are invalid in these counts.

FIRST ROUND:

Duke - 41 (40%)
TNF - 36 (35%)
Spiral - 25 (25%)

SECOND ROUND

Duke - 59 (60%)
TNF - 40 (40%)

Yawn.

Unless there are at least 25 strategic voters out there ready to knock Duke out by bumping up Spiral and TNF, this race is over.

Wait a second, writing oneself in for a lower preference counts as a candidacy too, right?

In that case...

Northeast Assembly - First Round
6 (5?) SWE (SWE, Mr. X, bore, BaconBacon96, AFJ, Yeahsayyeah)
4 cinyc (Grumps, Nix, cinyc, smoltchanov)
3 Napoleon (Napoleon, Peeperkorn, MATTROSE94)
2 Deus (Deus, Goldwater)
2 *Winfield (Winfield, sirnick)
1 Branden Cordeiro (Pessimistic Antineutrino)
1 (0?) *Yeahsayyeah (butafly)
1 (0?) *AFJ (Talleyrand)

0 (3?) invalid (butafly, Mr. X, Talleyrand)

We'll assume for now that all disputed votes are counted.
Quota is 4.
SWE and cinyc are elected.

Northeast Assembly - Second Round
4 SWE
4 cinyc
3 2/3 Napoleon (Napoleon, Peeperkorn, MATTROSE94, 1/3 Mr. X, 1/3 bore)
2 1/3 Deus (Deus, Goldwater, 1/3 SWE)
2 *Winfield (Winfield, sirnick)
1 1/3 *Yeahsayyeah (butafly, 1/3 Yeahsayyeah)
1 1/3 *AFJ (Talleyrand, 1/3 AFJ)
1 Branden Cordeiro (Pessimistic Antineutrino)
1/3 exhausted (1/3 BaconBacon96)

Branden Cordeiro is eliminated.

Northeast Assembly - Third Round
4 SWE
4 cinyc
3 2/3 Napoleon (Napoleon, Peeperkorn, MATTROSE94, 1/3 Mr. X, 1/3 bore)
3 1/3 Deus (Deus, Goldwater, 1/3 SWE, Pessimistic Antineutrino)
2 *Winfield (Winfield, sirnick)
1 1/3 *Yeahsayyeah (butafly, 1/3 Yeahsayyeah)
1 1/3 *AFJ (Talleyrand, 1/3 AFJ)
Branden Cordeiro
1/3 exhausted (1/3 BaconBacon96)

AFJ is eliminated (fewer first preferences)

Northeast Assembly - Fourth Round
4 SWE
4 cinyc
4 Napoleon (Napoleon, Peeperkorn, MATTROSE94, 1/3 Mr. X, 1/3 bore, 1/3 AFJ)
3 1/3 Deus (Deus, Goldwater, 1/3 SWE, Pessimistic Antineutrino)
3 *Winfield (Winfield, sirnick, Talleyrand)
1 1/3 *Yeahsayyeah (butafly, 1/3 Yeahsayyeah)
*AFJ
Branden Cordeiro
1/3 exhausted (1/3 BaconBacon96)

Napoleon is elected; Yeahsayyeah is eliminated; Deus and Winfield are elected.

Hypotheticals based on the last listed result:

If the disputed votes are not counted, we get the same assembly.

Regardless of whether or not the disputed votes are counted:

If Cinci accepts write-ins, the Assembly would consist of SWE, cinyc, Napoleon, Deus, and Cinci.

If Griffin accepts write-ins and Cinci does not, the Assembly would consist of SWE, cinyc, Napoleon, Deus, and Griffin.

so i guess it doesn't matter, for now.

Technically, if Lief had intended his #2 preference to be an apology, he should have put a comma between "Sorry" and "Duke".  The way he used it, without a comma, gives the the definition of "pitiful".  So, either he was voting for "Sorry Duke" (i.e. "Pitiful Duke"), or he did not intend to vote for Duke, and calling Duke pitiful should be interpreted as campaigning in the voting booth.

For one thing, Lief, none of the candidates in your ballot have a running mate.  Neither candidate is running without a running mate, so I don't think your vote can be counted toward any ticket.  The other problem is what Inks pointed out.  Also, why did you give Duke both your second and fourth preferences?
