Was just reading a good article on that on France24, showing all the historical of this, and how some things...'suddenly changed'.

Lol:

They don't get what 'Assange' or 'Wikileaks' is...

Hopefully he will be duly tried for what he is charged of, and the justice will determine whether he is guilty or not. Like any other citizen.

Now the intresting question is, who's Britain gonna hand him over to. Sweden, or the US.

For some reason I think the US, I hear they have some sort of special relationship. (Think that's code for them having gay sex)

This would be a blatant political manoeuver.

Uh, he's not like any other citizen.........so nothing will be terribly familiar.  Any other citizen might not even be charged....if you remember charges were pending, withdrawn, now miraculously pending again after a wikileaks dump......sound like every other citizen to you?

That's why I said "hopefully" and not "probably". Anyways, I don't know whether the proceeding was regular or not, so I won't make up an opinion about that.

Wouldn't Sweden have to produce their evidence at an extradition hearing?
Yeah well, hopefully it's over that very second.

Depends what the extradition treaty looks like, presumably. They've given details of the charges.

Anybody who thinks 'the law' will really matter much in this case is incredibly naive.  I just hope its not too painful, but knowing them, torture is very likely before the 'suicide'.

Actually, no, not really. Given the allegations and the fact that he's not from here, there was never any chance of him getting bail, irrespective of everything else.

I'm happy to take your word on that, Al.  Thanks.

Actually I suppose an absolute disappearance is the most likely event.

Could be, or just nowhere.  They may well be torturing people in an office in any downtown, no need for the drama of a Gitmo (I suspect making special places for their crimes is just to please the ravening mob).

Maybe he'll kill himself in his cell, consumed by guilt.

I've always thought that would be their PR move, and it hanging your political opponents in their cells has a long, long history.  But somehow I'm not sure it will be terrible enough for this crowd.  I think they'll want to keep him to play with for later - that seems to be their style.

LOL opebo.  That's the whole reason Assange turned himself into a celebrity to begin with.  He can't be "disappeared" because he's too high-profile.

I'm quite well aware that was his rather optimistic plan.  But the example disappearing (or suiciding) him will make will be commensurately greater due to that same celebrity.

I think that has more to do with wanting to be popular. Anyone that wishes to put others at risk like him is clearly doing it for the attention.

I wonder if he was picked last, whenever soccer was played with the other kids on the playground.

People seem to be under the misunderstanding that Assange is Wikileaks.  His organization can continue releasing information just fine with him behind bars.
