Mosul will almost certainly be retaken. The actual questions are how soon and how costly will victory be.

Yeah, Iraqi forces are making good progress. If ISIS has withdrawn to the city itself, then Iraqi forces should be able to cut them off by swinging around the city to capture what appear to be mostly lightly occupied villages. I will say, resistance does not appear to be as fierce as predicted.
