Not to press anyone's buttons, but with the off time yesterday...I should have this ready by tomorrow evening (I need to tweak the tory platform some).

My apologies.

Leader name: Colin Wixted
Leader home riding: Saanich-Gulf Islands

Number of candidates: 308

BC: 36
Alberta: 28 (strongest province)
Saskatchewan: 14
Manitoba: 14
Ontario: 106
Quebec: 75
New Brunswick: 10
Nova Scotia: 11
PEI: 4 (weakest province)
Newfoundland: 7
Yukon: 1
NWT: 1
Nunavut: 1

Main point of platforms:
1) The creation of an enviromentally sound and economically prosperous Canada that finds ways to use new alternative energy and new ways of taxation to promote both growth and enviromental consciousness.
2) The creation of green taxes and government promotion of enviromentally conscious business practices by cutting the taxes of those corporations that show themselves to be enviromentally conscious while increasing taxes on polluters.
3) Promoting peace and humanitarian activity by the Canadian government and Canadian military including a phased withdrawl of Canadian forces from Afghanistan and increased financial and humanitarian aid to those countries and peoples who need Canada's help.
4) Keep Canada's promise to meet Kyoto Treaty standards for emissions.
5) We will move to remove unnecessary boundaries and barriers for those immigrants who want to begin a new life in Canada and help build a more open immigration system that brings those who will benefit Canada and want to lead a better life into Canada while still keeping those out who want to do harm to our country and our citizens. The current government has focused too much on keeping immigrants out then letting them in and helping them integrate into Canadian society.
6) Return good government back to Canada by enforcing stricter ethics regulations and by creating regulatory agencies that are outside of political enviroment of Ottawa while reforming the appointment system in Canada to dissuade the current spoils system in the capital.
7) Create a more participatory and open government by supporting an elected Senate and proportional representation in electing the Commons.
Cool Move towards the legalization of illegal drugs such as marijuana and move towards stopping addiction to illegal drugs than punishing users.
9) Reduce taxes to middle and low income Canadians to both help the economy and put more money into the pockets of hard working Canadians.
10) All other points are identical to the 2006 Green Party Platform.

Name: Richard G. Arage
Party: Conservative
Riding: Newmarket-Aurora (Hah...I am going to earn my seat.)

I'm running a candidate in every riding in the country. (308, 1 per riding)

Targeted Province: Ontario
Historically Strongest Province: Alberta
Weakest Province: Nunavut

The Conservative platform for the 2006 campaign shall be the initial starting point; however I shall likely take it in a fiscally conservative but pragmatic and prudent direction while likely being more socially liberal.

I wasn't online much. Sorry. (Oh well, we're not going to win anyways. Smiley )

Leader name: Peter Strikes With a Gun (Peigan Nation tribal chairman. Smiley )
Party: First Peoples National Party
Riding: Macleod
Number of candidates: I'd have to spend a couple of hours immersed in stats, draw up a list of which ridings I'd want to have candidates in - ones with high native concentrations, basically - and count them. (And that's assuming I can find a local in that riding who wants to stand. Makes no sense to run a non-local). Should come to no more than about three or four dozen, I guess.
Targeted provinces: rural parts of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta; Northern Ontario

Program highlights (stolen from the actual website)
- We have been constantly reacting to foreign laws imposed upon us. Our voice has been silenced for too long. It is time for the original inhabitants’ voice to be heard in determining our own future.
- As a people we need to redeem the rights and pr i vileges that were taken away from us, make sure our rights are protected and ensure that our treaties and agreements are honoured by the Federal Government.
- to ensure that there is equal opportunity for all Canadians to achieve the means for economic prosperity and security. This must be achieved through education, training and other means.
- Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Truth, Humility and Wisdom.

Don't worry too much about the Greens. They *shouldn't* win a seat (though, with Hashemite running things, who knows)

Colin,

The NDP's calling you out.

So Earl...do you wish to make a preliminary prediction here?

No, because this is not real life. Anything can happen in a game.

Hey, I said that I would run the Liberals in a certain way because it would be interesting to do so, not because I thought it would help me win Tongue

It will be interesting to see how the, thus far, small swing from Libs to NDP affects my seat count if I cant gain separation.

Cheesy

Well, you can't run an NDP campaign and not attack the Liberals.

I would just like to point out that three to four dozen candidates compares quite favorably to my party's rl count of five (plus a number of independents running on essentially the same platform)... and that I think we have great vote-splitting-and-thence-letting-the-conservatives-in potential in certain Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan seats. Grin

And because I'm running an entirely word-of-mouth campaign bound to be ignored by the national media... I think we'll poll higher in the election than in any polls released to that date.

Of course this extremely depends on the quality of my local candidates... which is a matter for the gm to decide...

I'm not happy about the BQ dropping out; they are the third largest party in the House of Commons, not some fringe grouping.
Either we re-locate this to c.1988 or so, or someone gets hastily drafted in to lead them.
Or they could be done as some form of NPC.

I think we should pause the game and find another player...

1988 is too far back, especially for me, to zone in on the hot issues of the campaign.
