26 million jobs lost in 1 month. I hope saving a few centenarians were worth it.

Silence sociopath.

Don't even bother.

While there are reasons to be concerned with the economic impacts of these sweeping stay-at-home orders, it drives me nuts when people marginalize the lives of others simply because of their ages.

I have been really impressed with DeWine's leadership in this crisis.

To that point, I undoubtedly look at this pandemic through the lens of a future healthcare professional and not an economist.

Our job is to do what we can to treat the ill and prevent further illness, regardless of age, prognosis, etc.

At this stage, fully and immediately opening up the economy hinders those efforts.

Egh, DTT's personal life aside -- doesn't matter if he's a self-made billionaire or living entirely off of gov't assistance, we clearly disagree on a very fundamental level about the response to this pandemic.

I have been really impressed with DeWine's leadership in this crisis.

DeWine has probably had the best response of any of the Republican governors-and among the best of any of the governors-to the crisis. His decades of experience in public office have definitely been put to good use here. Such an immense contrast between him and people like DeSantis, Kemp, Noem, and the like, whose responses have been absolutely horrific. Hogan and Baker have also done a good job, particularly the former.

Because of this, those "protests" deserve to lose all the support they ever had.

Anti-freedom racism like that doesn't belong at a rally that claims to stand for freedom.

Montana and Colorado are trying to reopen responsibly after the ongoing disaster. Garbage like this really sets the effort back.

1 in 5 New Yorkers hospitalized for Covid-19 die with the underlying conditions of high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes being common risk factors found among severe cases. 88% of people put on a ventilator eventually don't recover.

New York Times also showed how many countries have a huge spike in deaths currently not being counted as Covid-19.

The busboys and waiters and cooks at Ruth's Chris are going to appreciate getting paid, and hopefully having a job in a few months.

The reason for a separate program for small businesses with dedicated funding is because corporations and large businesses like Ruth’s Chris have ready access to capital which is not available to small businesses, and small businesses have a unique role to play in sustaining employment so the federal government feels uniquely qualified to fill that gap. If large businesses and corporations dip into the small business funding, they’re drinking the small businesses’ only milkshake, and they drink it quickly because of their size.

Scientists investigate possible positive effects of nicotine. It is being assumed that nicotine somehow (clinging onto the receptors the virus needs) has a positive shielding effect against the virus.

Obviously testing will be done with patches, not cigarettes.

The reason for the theory is that so far smokers have 80% lower infection rates than the General population.

Smokers were told at the start of the pandemic to give up because it was a respiratory virus.

Keep in mind also that some of the COVID-19 hotspots are very polluted cities. Wuhan, Milan, London and New York have significant air pollution which may have contributed to poor lung health for it's citizens.

Montana is a State which has obviously seen its peak in new cases and since has seen sharp declines, is pretty rural, and has a higher testing per capita rate than Colorado. To compare the level-headed approach in Montana as opposed to the irrational, Libertarian-pandering approach in Colorado is laughable at best.

As we approach 50,000 deaths and 1,000,000 cases, it might be a good time to revisit this Tweet from just last month.

This model doesn't take into account anything about how we have observed COVID-19 actually spreading thus far or environmental factors (like warmer weather, less reliance on public transit, etc.) that favor the South.  Urban areas have higher infection rates despite doing relatively more social distancing, and I don't expect that to change once things start gradually opening back up.
