Disregard what I said earlier, my computer's clock was off by three days.  (it didn't feel like a Sunday night...)

Well, close enough, I guess.

A true victory for Hungarian immigration policy.

As far as I can tell, Ronald Reagan had nothing to do with it, though we can pretend...

The greatest moment of the 20th Century, I'd say.

I've been to Berlin too. Great city.

A momentous day, no doubt. I think Eastern Europe has made good progress in casting off the shackles of their communist past.

It makes me wonder, sometimes. Back in the early 80s, who would have guessed that many Eastern European countries would be steadfast allies to the US?

What a difference it makes when a superpower goes under. Tongue

It's truly a great day for humanity.

Let's hope the walls of Cyprus, Korea, and Palestine soon meet a similar fate.

I saw the press conference of Schabowski in the East German TV  in the 9th of November and it was very boring. In the end this member of the Politburo says that all people of East Germany can leaving the DDR everywhere and I can't believe it. Later in the West German TV they say the Wall is open and then I believe it is true and not a dream.

On Sunday the 10th I go to Hof, the next bigger city, and it was incredible. In this city with a population of 50000 where 200000 East Germans. In the next weeks so many people comes to my Region, this was unbelievable. In my hometown with 3500 people it gave days there where 15000 visitors from the DDR and this not only one day. No, every day.

In their first visit the people of East Germany get from the West German State 100 Marks and in in their second visit 50 Marks. All get the money and buy Bananas, Oranges and radio recorder. Some people in the West make the business of their life in this time.

In the 17th November 1989 I go the first time in my life to east Germany and I was in Zwickau. That's a Industry City in Saxony. The Trabbi was build there. The Air there was so bad, that I can't breathe. I feel like in hell and the East Germans make jogging outside Shocked

This was a crazy time. I will never forget it.

I was 6 when it happened, and actually it didn't let me the slightest memory (come on, i had better to think about, i remember a girl named Julie at that time, among others...), my first Historical memory is when I was 8, opening of Gulf war.

But, when i compare the historical images about that epoch, actually those that touches me far more than those of the opening of the wall are these huge demonstrations in Leipzig:

Wir sind das Volk, Wir sind das Volk, Wir sind das Volk...!

Damn, seems to have been something, and seems also to have been the beginning of the events, and my TV is crowded of stuffs on the wall for one week and not the slightest about Leipzig, well haven't seen everything, but what i've seen... Also, hard to find some videos of it, didn't on youtube, didn't on some others...

Also, amusing to see how Waleza is so annoyed by all people not paying attention to Solidarnosc for the wall. Well, we're talking of the wall, not of the whole path toward freedom in the former East block, they don't even speak about Leipzig, so Solidarnosc...

I was 5, almost 6 and I have dim memories. Mainly I was confused as to why everyone was so excited about a wall filled with graffiti and they kept showing guys with pickaxes going at the wall. Mostly I was noticing how much graffiti there was on there.
