Okay, who's left then? Ken Buck? Plenty of Republicans saw the Coffmans as their best chance at a pick-up here. Without an obvious candidate here, I don't see how this could be a better pick-up opportunity than the open seat in NV, where Heck is looking more and more likely to run.

Walker Stapleton, Scott Tipton, a scabbling of State Senators. I'm not saying the chances are good, but the GOP just prevented a massive disaster that would've occurred if the Coffman's had been given the nomination.

Although just because a party is dipping into bottom tier candidates, it doesn't mean they've lost necessarily. That should be referred to as the Ernst Rule.
