Obviously all the British posters will know this already, but for the rest of you: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jul/04/milly-dowler-voicemail-hacked-news-of-world

Its almost as if someone despairingly asked the News of the Screws if they could sink any lower and they took it as a challenge...

I mean, we are deep into Damien Day territory here. Whatever next?

They will almost certainly manage to pin something on the Mulcaire guy in court, and he'll probably end up serving time for it. The open question remains whether they can pursue some kind of corporate prosecution or a criminal prosecution against somebody big like the Editor.

Is Ian Hislop's title as the most sued man in Britain under threat?!?

Hopefully longer than six months this time.

And now confirmation of at least a degree of police corruption: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14046070

God, you kind of hope they did this because they knew one of their highest-up is the true murderer.

Quite sickening. I stopped buying The Times (which for the record, I consider to be a balanced paper but aware i'm aware that it never reports on any News International controversy)

Obviously, this is disgusting and not hugely surprising. There's actually a proposed boycott of News Ltd papers here, too, but I doubt it'll happen/it'll have much effect if it does.
