New Hampshire like the rest of New England didn't have problem with voting for Republicans from 1856. but they never voted for the Whigs. Massachusetts and Vermont voted for Whigs on every election, rest of region also often but NH never. Neither on federal level nor on state level. From 1834. until party collapse in 1850s, in many elections Whigs never won senate seat, only once house seat (Tuck in 1851. and lost re-election), and had just one one-year governor (Colby 1846. also lost re-election).

1. Lack of property requirements to vote in that state (though same for Vermont)

2. Some sympathy for slavery/southerners (doughfaces)

3. Lack of large scale manufacturing (less reason to vote based on tariffs)

4. Less need for internal improvements (though the original NH turnpike was built around this time)

5. Not as much nativist sentiment (perhaps less immigrants meant the issue was not as important)

New Hampshire was more Scotch-Irish in demographic composition resulting in some cultural distinction from surrounding Yankee areas.
