He could've handled the ethical issues from the past better when they came out. That whole incident with the security guards didn't help things either.

Another possible strategy could've been trying to highlight the more conservative parts of Murkowski's record in an effort to drive Democrats away from her and back to McAdams. Probably would be more effective coming from a 527 instead of the Miller campaign itself.
