Its bad enough that AP has a very strong political bias, which has led them from time to time to make things up, but, they can't even get basic things factually correct (ignoring the left wing spin they put on their propaganda),

Here's a recent example:

Judge dismisses Condit suit against Dunne
By ERICA WERNER – Jul 8, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit by former Congressman Gary Condit claiming author Dominick Dunne slandered him over the death of a young female intern.

Condit claimed that Dunne falsely accused him on the "Larry King Live" show of involvement in the 2001 disappearance of government intern Chandra Levy, with whom Condit acknowledged having an affair.

U.S. District Judge Peter K. Leisure of New York ruled Tuesday that Dunne's comments in November 2005 did not rise to the level of slander. A similar lawsuit by Condit against Dunne was settled in March 2005; the terms remain confidential.

"Our position has always been this was an abusive and frivolous lawsuit," said Dunne's attorney, Paul LiCalsi. "The decision confirms that there was nothing defamatory about Mr. Dunne's expressing his opinion that Condit knows more than he's ever told about what happened to Chandra Levy."

Attorneys for Condit did not immediately return calls for comment.

Condit, a former Republican congressman from California's Central Valley, has denied any involvement in or knowledge of Levy's May 2001 disappearance at age 24, or her death.

To summarize: neither party wants to be stuck with losers like Condit or Foley. So they just give those guys to the other side. Tongue

Actually, it's not.  But what do I know?  I'm just a professional journalist with 25 years of experience.

As to making a mistake about party affiliation, it happens ALL the time in newsrooms everywhere.  The reasons for this become crystal clear if one works about a week in a newsroom of any size.  That's not to say it's excusable -- mistakes of any kind should be anathema.  But they happen whenever humans are involved.

For all its faults -- and the AP has many, I am not a huge fan -- left wing political bias is not one of them.
