No amount of pro-Palestine protest posting is going to make Macklemore cool again.

I don’t hate the guy or anything, but for most people the first word that comes to mind after hearing his name is “corny”, or something worse. Thrift Shop was stupid but fun, while things like White Privilege II are just cringeworthy and have aged badly. I doubt a protest song that will be forgotten in six weeks is gonna revive his career. I suppose stranger things have happened though.

I did hear his recent song No Bad Days on the radio a few times and liked it, though that was more on the featured artist than him. Just looked it up and apparently it didn’t chart anywhere, which is a little surprising to me.

There is no anti-semitic dogwhistles in the song. Macklemore can be lame but looking at his past, I can see he generally has his heart in the right place.*

*That mask was uncalled for, which he later walked back. Still, that should not diminish his message, especially when other artists are not speaking out, in fear of losing their jobs.
