http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/08/how-google-could-rig-the-2016-election-121548.html#.Vdov-_ZViko

A potentially damning article from Politico about how Google searches could easily influence undecided voters... thus unduly influencing the outcome of the elections.

The writers are arguing for regulation on Google (and similar search engines) Algorithm Capabilities. Do you believe that's necessary? Or is something more heinous in the water?

This reads like a conspiracy theory.  They never show any evidence that Google is doing this.  All they say is that its theoretically possible.

Anyway, I can't help but wonder how much worse this completely hypothetical scenario is than what Fox News does every day?  If we put regulations on Google for this (which I'm not that opposed to,really), I insist we do the same for Fox News, MSNBC, etc.

Considering Fox News got away with saying they were allowed to lie on air since they're an entertainment channel,  I don't see Google getting brought down in any similar way.

That was a local Fox (the network) affiliate, not Fox News (the cable channel).

Mixing up Fox and Fox News is like mixing up NBC and MSNBC, the two are totally different beasts.
