Maine caucus so far (1 caucus site out of 22):
Cruz     49.8%
Trump  30.8%
Kasich  10.5%
Rubio     7.6%

What? The entire state has only 22 caucus sites?

Looks that way:
http://mainegop.com/caucus/

Most counties have only one caucus site, except for the most populous or largest geographically, which have up to 3.  And there are only 16 counties in Maine.

The more I hear about caucuses, state by state, the worse they sound.

So what, are we just going to keep getting results as the caucuses close?

How can their be results from Main if the Caucus does not start until 8 pm

They start at different times. go back to 2012 for reference

Some caucus sites are already done - much more than just Waldo County.  The latest closing time I see is 7:00PM in Houlton, ME, not 8.

TRUMP has no groundgame in caucus states while Cruz seems to have organized everywhere.

Maine has a thing for Independents, I think Trump will do well. You would likely get a similar result to NH - Kasich should have focused more here.

This was 2012:

Romney 2,269 39%
Paul 2,030 35%
Santorum 989 18%
Gingrich 349 7%

If Cruz is winning Ron Paul supporters here, he should do well.

Gold counties are Paul
Orange is Romney
Green is Santorum

Kennebec County includes the state capital of Augusta.  It's a little more representative of the state than Waldo County, but it's not the Portland suburbs.  Caucuses there closed at noon, so it's plausible that we have results by now.

Kasich really could have pushed hard in Maine. Dont see why he wasted his time in Michigan, Trump plays worse in Maine than in Mass or NH....

The guy who is okay with water-boarding, wants to carpet bomb, winning Ron Paul supporters is weird. Ron Paul was my favorite in the GOP Debates - He schooled McCain 1 or 2 times but god a very raw deal from the mods.

Cruz winning Majority of Ron Paul supporters is flat-out weird!

It would have been useless without having a caucus infrastructure already in place.

Where is Rockefeller GOP to tell us that only Southern rednecks support unelectable, radical candidates?

Probably at his caucus.

Did Cruz target Maine? It'd be one of the oddest places for him to win...

Now, I will be shocked if Cruz wins Maine, but I don't think he will. I do think it will be close though.

Also, remember Ron Paul won Kennebec county last time also..

He's actually the most libertarian candidate running with his opposition to nation building, indefinite detainment, the patriot act, as well as corporate welfare like export import bank, and he strongly emphasizes states rights and the constitution.

Did anyone notice that Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Maine are all consecutive on an alphabetic list of US states?

I didn't. Heh.

It would seem to me that Cruz would be the third choice for Maine residents behind Trump and Kasich.  I'm interested to see the results.  It would be an upset if Cruz can pull it off.  It would show that Trump may be losing his luster among the GOP.

Of course Cruz is doing well in Maine, it's practically Canada!
