The quiz has become less accurate.  The extremes it makes you choose from and the way it phrases questions makes you choose between

a) The extreme libertarian way
b) The extreme big government way

I agree that I am for a sizeable government and some social controls.  That said, II scored the highest possible on big government, but I guarantee that there are many here that are more socialistic than me.

my problem with it is that it puts John Ford as more economically liberal than me because I oppose corporate welfare.

And I am most certainly not more liberal than you on economics.

stry_cat,

I disagree with your assesment of a typical Republican.

For social issues:

On #1, Republicans hate most regulations on content, such as equal time rules.  They oppose regualtions on political speech (campaign finance reform) and have an inordinate fear that they will have their right to free speech taken away by the PC police.

On #2, I have never met anyone who believes the US should have compulsory military service.  This is not something a typical Republican believes.

For economic issues:

On #2 , Republicans would not say we should end all barriers to trade.  No sanctions on North Korea?  Really?

On #4, Republicans do not usually want to end all government services.

On #5, Most Republicans that have studied the issue kow that only a fool believes we can cut government by 50% without dramatic social reprecussions.

The typical Republican:

No real Republicans out here!  Check out the SoCal congressional delegation.

You want retired military?  I live 20 miles from the largest Marine base in the western US, and 25 miles from the home port of of most of the Pacific Fleet!
