Marist, soon, maybe. Something about them doing a Midwest polling binge? But yeah. Things have been quiet since late June.

As of now, here are the polling aggregates of non-internals:

Lifetime: DeWine 43%, Cordray 42%
Pos-Primary: Cordray 42%, DeWine 40%

Where are we now? Who the Hell knows.

His team is smart enough to realize that they're not going to be able to make him into something he's not. It also helps that Rick Snyder proved the "one tough nerd" thing worked already back in 2010.

So, DeWine put out an ad recently claiming Cordray left 12,000 backlogged rape test kits. It's a decent ad and falls right into DeWine's playbook. He loves to emphasize prosecuting rapists. Cordray's now fired back with an ad that's even better, touting the endorsement of the FOP and a long-serving Republican Sherrif who is "voting for the man, not the party."

With a little more than seventy days left, the campaign's heating up, folks. And it's going to get ugly soon.

I do like Cordray but I always thought people exaggerated when they said that he was boring. I now can see that he really is that boring.

Have any of you ever personally see Cordray speak? IMO he is much better in person.

I have in 2010, and he wasn't.

Memory serves, Des Moines biggest successes as attorney general has been following up on initiatives cordrey started. I believe among them was following up on the backlog of untested rape kits, which was delayed during court administration due to the Great Recession slashing all funding for, well, everything. But again, IRC, at least the plan for it was developed by cordray

I am officially an asshole for calling Joe Helle "an asshole with a screw loose." Evidently, OHROC is going after him for seeking mental health treatment since returning from the Middle East and insinuating he is unfit to serve in elected office because of it.

This race is all but blown, though.

Ah, yes, the grand ol' party sure does love and appreciate America's veterans, especially after they come home...

If the majority of the voters of that district have any brains at all, this attack will backfire big-time.

Helle's running in a district Obama won twice and Democrats held at the state legislative level up until 2014 -- not Pennsyltucky.

LOL, nice one.

I wasn't actually making any type of judgment about the district, I didn't even look it up. I was just speaking in general. If you draw a random American district out of a hat, that initial post would be a big ask.

Man, Cordray and DeWine are both super lame

Other highlights:

  • Cordray has smoked weed. DANK governor confirmed.
  • DeWine says he hasn't read the Bible all the way through. For SHAME #christians4cordray
  • Remember that article about how the candidates are "two different kinds of boring" and the writer says that DeWine is "like a grandpa on the porch going on about how much he enjoys pie?" DeWine mentions pie MULTIPLE times in this interview, like what the hell man.
  • Cordray says if there's a movie about his life, he'll be played by Jack McBrayer.

Helle has completely blown out. While it is not fair to go after him for his seeking mental health treatment, he has been an incredibly erratic campaigner and is very prickly in person. You may have missed the atory where he resigned his Mayorship due to no longse living in Oak Harbor. Absolutely joke at fundraising.

Any polls for DeWine vs. Cordray likely to drop soon?  We've gotten everything from FL-GOV to FL-SEN to IN-SEN to MO-SEN, yet nothing on Ohio...

We just got a C+ graded poll from Change Research earlier today. DeWine 45, Cordray 42. When they ask about the Libertarian and the Green, It's DeWine 43, Cordray, 43, Libertarian 6, Green 2. All online. Sort of junky, IMO. They only had Brown +4.

--

In more interesting news, the August Campaign Finance Reports dropped today.

August Filing

Cordray: $1.89m, $7.19m COH
DeWine: $2.02m, $11.6m COH

Dettelbach: $699k, $4.03m COH
Yost: $336k, $3.41m COH

Clyde: $238k, $1.75m COH
LaRose: $234k, $1.59m COH

Sprague: $101k, $463k COH
Richardson: $140k, $1.21m COH

Space: $154k, $998k COH
Faber: $135k, $1.14m COH

Does it really, though? I know Betty Sutton's been pretty localized in NEOH, but everyone else seems to be getting around... even if they aren't making it to Dayton for whatever reason.
