Usually teams that win championships the next year are pressured to win again and create a dynasty.....the 1992 Redskins, 1997 Packers, 2003 Buccaneers and 2014 Seattle Seahawks failed in the NFL, the 1996 Braves and 1997 Yankees failed in the MLB and so on.....

Should defending champions be pressured to focus and repeat or just have fun and let the season run it's course?

This makes no sense. Every remotely competitive team is going into the season trying to win a title. The only exceptions are annual jokes like the Pirates and Knicks. A team that just won the title doesn't have to be "pressured to repeat" they are top level professionals and that's going to be the goal. The reason teams usually don't is because of things like injuries, not being able to re-sign key players, and unlucky results. Repeating is more common in hockey because a winning formula isn't as affected by one or two injuries or minor disruptions.
