Euronymous was a very disturbed individual who repeatedly threatened to kill people and told a mutual friend of Varg over the phone, whilst Varg was listening in, that he had plans to capture him, tie him to a tree, torture him to death, and make a snuff film out of it.  Despite this, the court decided that although Euronymous did indeed intend to do these things, Varg "couldn't have known about it," and that he killed Euronymous "without reason."  Although Varg didn't even go to Euronymous' apartment intending to "strike first" or anything; Euronymous attacked him when Varg only wanted to settle a record dispute and therefore have less reason to be around Euronymous in the future.  This is according to Varg himself and the people who were with him at the time.

I'm not suggesting that Varg is a good human being because he's not; I just doubt that murder was his intent that night.

My uncle (who came from a poor family) died from all the Agent Orange he breathed in Vietnam while all the rich kids were going to college.  He had no say in the matter and his parents insisted that he go because muh patriotism/his father served too.  They regretted it from the day he died of cancer.

Don't spit at the troops, spit at the thugs that make them into troops.  Spit at the government.  Even most German soldiers (and citizens) had no idea what was going on in those camps.

Football is a weird sport and I never understood why Americans are so obsessed with it.  It's literally a bunch of dudes hopping on top of each other.

I think that's mostly why I hate this dumb kneeling "controversy."  I really don't care what players do during the Anthem whether they sit, stand, or scratch their balls.  It's about as relevant to me as the sport itself.*

While I don't believe in those things, you couldn't pay me enough to go sit in a supposedly "haunted" hotel room or something at night, LOL ... absolutely nothing to gain.  If I'm right and they're fake, big deal; if I'm wrong, I'm in for a terrible night.  So, I guess while I don't "believe in them," I'm not very confident in my disbelief.   Is this how atheists feel??  LOL.

I almost went to a haunted hospital in my freshman year of college.  It was supposed to be me and two friends, one of whom was an atheist, but he backed out at the last minute playing it off as a joke.

IMO the biggest problem with child support is that there seems to be no opt-out for it at all.  I don't think any person should be subject to 18 years hard labor against their will, physical or financial, male or female.  That precisely is why I'm pro-choice.

But, I also believe that childbearing should be universally discouraged.  That's what puts me at odds with most people, I think.

By extension, that leads to another unpopular opinion of mine: there is not only an alt right, but an alt left as well.

Basically no one describes themselves as "Alt-left", so I'd say the alt-right is much more of a real thing for that reason alone. 

Alt-left might be a good descriptor for uber fringe Famous Mortimer-types who normally manifest themselves as Twitter eggs.  It could also be synonymous with tankies and North Korea sympathizers.

Note that this refusal is within contexts of debates about the issue itself and is otherwise hypothetical.  No one claimed he called them the wrong thing.

Peterson's point is that the government shouldn't force people to use certain words, regardless of whom is being addressed.  He is not required to address a female student using female pronouns, nor a male using male pronouns, and it is entirely within his rights to refer to anyone he chooses by the word "it."  But he chooses not to, because that's outside the given norm.  He's even said that he would use the preferred pronoun of a particular individual if that person asked him to, rather than the state.

He is wrong on singular 'they' as that debate's pretty much been settled by grammarians, but having the state force people to use the silly pronouns (zir/zem/etc.) is just absurd.

Alcohol should be illegal, but it's too ingrained in society to actually execute the ban without mass protests.  Same thing with tobacco.  And that's my biggest reason for not wanting to legalize marijuana- that we cannot create a third great American drug that becomes readily available and socially acceptable.  I don't think pot is that much worse than alcohol or tobacco (from what I've read- I have never had and will never have any of the three), but they should all be illegal- but it's the only one of the three that isn't so deeply entrenched that it's almost impossible to ban.

Really, I think that generations in general are complete nonsense. Why should I relate to someone born in 1985, ten years before me, than someone born in 2000, five years after me? And do I really have that much in common with someone born the same year as me in a completely different location and socioeconomic class?

I agree, but I think there is something demographically relevant about a boom in the number of babies (i.e. a Baby Boomer) to the point where we can at least identify them clearly, while the others are completely made up for convenience and simplicity.

So what of the Silent, G.I., and Lost generations?

These are uniquely American concepts anyway, since Strauss-Howe invented these labels to divide eras of US history and describe their cultural trends.  Whether a person is born in 1994 or 1997 isn't meant to be significant.

I don't know of any other nation that uses fancy names to divide its history every couple or so decades.  Most couldn't.

For starters, his body was never found. The Nazi government was also the ones to announce his death, which is a puzzling strategic move to announce your leader has committed suicide. Netflix has a very good documentary that delves into this better, I'd also be happy to further discuss with you if you are interested. The documentary does go a bit wonkers and tries to argue that Nazis had an underground camp for decades in Antartica - I don't believe that, but think that it is entirely possible that he faked his own death.

I mean, I think it's plausible that Hitler could have escaped, albeit very unlikely as one of the Nazi Ministers (whose name escapes me) had attempted to escape in disguise but had his cover blown by one of the Allies.  I find it incredibly hard to believe that Hitler would have managed to escape the continent and influence National Socialists throughout Europe while undetected.
