There is a vast difference between a news story that makes you angry and a news story that is in any way relevant or worth your energy.

Looking at the U.S. discussion board, what can feasibly be done about the stories mentioned here, here, or here, just to name a few? They're maddening, yes, but that doesn't make it news. There's nothing you can vote on that will make it stop, nothing you can donate to that will fuel an organized effort against it, and nothing you can actually discuss beyond the merits that there are people out there doing bad things. There isn't a single thing contained in those stories that you can actually take action against, and all it will realistically do is give you another thing to get angry about, with no remedy to actually fix it.

My sister is like this and I was trying to figure out why this is.  Then I reasoned that she probably likes to display her physical music/games/movies in order to justify her entertainment system setup.

But then I was reminded of that story I read that said that working class/middle class people have no problem just plunking their store bought handsoap or dish soap container next to the faucet... while bougie/rich types would tend to have a stylized soap dispenser that you refill and would almost invariably keep their dish soap under the sink in a cupboard.

Diversity is not a good thing OR a bad thing.  It should never be the goal of policy, but should likewise never be the goal to stop it.  We should be completely "race-blind" in all policy (both for the government and private entities).

The alt-right and most of the left are two sides of the same racist coin because they both think race should be relevant in discourse and in public policy, instead of forgetting about race completely as a society.

The flag is lowered to half mast way too often.  Not trying to downplay the tragedies it is lowered for, but it's also kind of shltty to "pick and choose" which tragedies warrant it.  I think it should be reserved for the death of a President or a clear national tragedy of a large scale, ala 9/11.
