So it goes from Saddam's handwriting to possibly the ugliest version of Arabic script I've ever seen. Wonderful.

Also note the dropping of the three stars to represent the Sunnis, Shi'as and Kurds.

Seems to be also only a temporary flag anyway. New design should be forthcoming next year.

Actually, they changed the writing on the flag after Saddam:



That was the "old" flag from 2004 to 2008.

I'm sure there was some symbolic reason for changing the color of the script but I liked the green better.
