Ike runs 4 years earlier against incumbent Harry S. Truman. Strom Thurmond still runs as an independent.

Who wins? Discuss with maps

As much as Truman overperformed expectations, I don't see much of a chance for him winning against Eisenhower.

✓ General Dwight D. Eisenhower (R-NY)/Governor Earl Warren (R-CA): 336 EVs.; 51.4%
President Harry S. Truman (D-MO)/Senator Alben Barkley (D-KY): 156 EVs.; 44.9%
Governor Strom Thurmond (Dixie-SC)/Governor Fielding Wright (Dixie-MS): 39 EVs.; 2.7%
