As a founding member, former presidential nominee of, and former senator elected under the Labor Party, I have honestly become quite disillusioned with my old party. Once one of several parties (and the most left-wing major one) formed after the dissolution, Labor has grown to be the most powerful party in Atlasian politics. Much legislative success, or at least agitation, has been accomplished by Comrade TNF.

And yet I feel the party has lost its soul, concerned more with self-preservation than playing the game. To elect a senator for a two-week term, the party resorted to last-minute tactical voting en masse to sabotage what would be a victory of my friend Simfan, who for all our disagreements is a good friend and a proud servant of Atlasia. Despite a decent platform, it remains a party with no firm ideological core, and one which like all big and rotten parties is full of zombie voters. Thus, despite my long history with a once-great party, I have chosen to split.

The Atlasian Left Front seeks to revitalize the left, and ultimately the game, from this rut. Like many have suggested, it will support key institutional reforms to the game, if not starting from a clean slate and a new constitution outright. From this new point, the Left Front will advocate for a truly democratic Atlasia, workers' control of the means of production and public ownership of services, and ultimately an Atlasia where every citizen contributes to the nation and every citizen feeds from the fruits of their labor. It rejects the corrupt, self-serving nature of the existing parties and believes that the game will be best if we place more value on cooperation and policy making and less on churning out electoral victory at any cost.

I invite any Atlasian citizen who supports these goals to support the Left Front, for a free and socialist Atlasia and a better game for all.

A few points, Mr. Senator-elect:

1. >implying that PM scores mean anything
2. Despite a substantial left wing, the party establishment outside the nominal platform remains broadly social-democratic (see all our presidents).
3. Once again, the splitting is not merely on an ideological basis, but because I believe Labor has become a corrupt establishment party machine rather than an invigorating party of the left that it should be if the game is to be fun rather than a chore.

I was referring to the left in respect to Labor. Its "right wing" is social democrats and progressives, and its "left wing" consists of various stripes of socialists.

Did the Party become a "corrupt establishment party machine" as well as "big and rotten" in the past two weeks, between the time you told me you were going to run under its banner for Senate again and today?

And to think I actually defended the notion of you returning to the Senate...

I fully admit that part of the final impetus for splitting was a (perceived) personal snub, but moreover I had withheld a lot of my own concerns about the party that I've had for at least several months, and given the ideological difference and attitude towards the game that I have vis a vis Labor, I felt being a splitter was the best choice.

Whenever I showed up to #labor there was no one or almost no one there, which I'll say is an unfortunate coincidence. Perhaps I could have or should have voiced my concerns about the party's machinery early, but perhaps you'll see the loss of a founding member as a wakeup call to reform internally and support a radical restructuring of Atlasia as we know it.

The Left Front shall hold a vote on the convention site; the convention will be held on June 1st, 2014. Nominations will last until every party member has entered a nomination.
