They added some new maps to the game, some of which require a membership to play.

Did Truman/Barkley on normal and lost the EV, but won the popular vote.

Did 1844, lost the EV but won the popular...probably because I used Pennsylvania instead of New York.

Clay 156 EV
Polk 119 EV

And as for 1948, did better than the actual Truman and took New York.

Truman: 370 EV
Dewey: 123 EV
Thurmond: 38 EV

Playing as Douglas/Seymour:

Lincoln: 127 EV (37.8%)
Douglas: 62 EV (29.7%)
Breckinridge: 58 EV (19.0%)
Bell: 53 EV (13.6%)

Took my name off of the ballot in every slave state except Missouri.  I don't think it's possible to win as Douglas.  I have won Ohio at least once as him and I am convinced that it is possible to win Indiana, Iowa, and Oregon.

Yeah, Douglas winning isn't in the algorithm. I've tried tanking myself as Lincoln on impossible but it doesn't work because of the stupid fusion ticket in PA.

I think the game should allow you to play as Breckinridge or Bell.  That would be interesting.

*shrugs* It's a one-time, no expiration, very affordable fee. I don't really care.

Just did the honest nail biter of 1948 on Easy. I was doing extremely well until the gaffe on slums. Oh well, I still win with 305 EVs. Visiting California paid off, despite losing Massachusetts and Virginia to Truman. I chose Bricker for Warren over VP, but I was only slightly more aggressive and conservative than OTL. I basically won with a Yankee coalition.

I played as Truman and managed to avert a Thurmond candidacy by opposing the idea of a civil rights plank in the Democratic platform. Consequently, I swept the South by FDR-like margins, allowing me to win the popular vote while losing the electoral vote pretty decisively.

Governor Thomas Dewey (R-NY) / Governor Earl Warren (R-CA): 46.24%; 305 Electoral Votes
President Harry Truman (D-MO) / Vice President Alben Barkley (D-KY): 46.58%; 226 Electoral Votes
Former Vice President Henry Wallace (P-IA) / Senator Glen Taylor (P-ID): 7.17%; 0 Electoral Votes

I'm on a computer, and my phone's broken, so I can't play this until my phone's fixed. Who can Dewey pick as a running-mate?

1916, Hughes/Fairbanks on normal:

https://www.americanhistoryusa.com/campaign-trail/game/97754

Ran as a (mostly) moderate candidate, won the EC but lost the popular vote.

2012; played as Romney. Spent most of the campaign with a very strong lead, to the point that Delaware and Connecticut were swing states, but faltered towards the end.

Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA)/Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) - 331 EV, 51.6%
Pres. Barack Obama (D-IL)/Vice Pres. Joe Biden (D-DE) - 207 EV, 47.5%

States decided by less than 5%:

Michigan - 0.66%
Minnesota - 1.13%
Delaware - 1.63%
Wisconsin - 1.69%
Pennsylvania - 1.80%

Washington - 2.85%
Oregon - 3.17%
Maine - 3.23%

Iowa - 3.85%
Colorado - 4.10%
New Hampshire - 4.14%
Virginia - 4.23%
Nevada - 4.56%

States decided by less than 10%:

Ohio - 5.32%
Florida - 5.54%

New Mexico - 6.23%
Connecticut - 7.60%
New York - 7.82%
New Jersey - 8.26%

North Carolina - 8.32%
Maryland - 8.88%

Election of 1844

Sen. Henry Clay / Gov. Millard Fillmore [Whig] 189 EV, 49.19% pv
Gov. James K. Polk / Sen. George M. Dallas [Dem] 86 EV, 48.11% pv
Mr. James G. Birney / Mr. Thomas Morris [Lib] 0 EV, 2.7% pv

Played as Clay/Fillmore on Normal and won in a squeaker. The trick seems to be to embrace Manifest Destiny early on, avoid taking a position on slavery whenever possible, and placate the North with protectionism and support for annexing Oregon. Did better than 99.1% of others playing as Clay.

Election of 1948

Pres. Harry S. Truman / Sen. Alben Barkley [DEM] 437 EV; 50.30% pv
Gov. Thomas Dewey / Gov. Earl Warren [REP] 56 EV; 44.07% pv
Gov. Strom Thurmond / Gov. Fielding L. Wright [DIX] 37 EV; 2.67% pv
Sec. Henry Wallace / Sen. Glen H. Taylor [PRO] 0 EV; 2.96% pv

Played as the Democratic ticket on Normal and did better than 99.6% of others with the same candidate and level.

Won as Ford/Baker in 1976 on Easy; I couldn't do it on Normal.  Sometimes, I swear these games are rigged.

Pres. Gerald R. Ford (R-MI)/Sen. Howard Baker (R-TN): 363 EVs; 40,715,312 PVs (50.12%)
Fmr. Gov. Jimmy Carter (D-GA)/Sen. Walter Mondale (D-MN): 175 EVs; 38,920,054 PVs (47.91%)
Others: 1,593, 629 PVs (1.96%)
