Sweet Jesus, this thread is peak atlas for all the wrong reasons (read: 7 of the last 9 ''posts''). Yes, I know I also am guilty. But I don't preach what I practice, I preach what ought to be practiced Smiley.

(yes, that was something of a Seneca reference)

Are you sure she's talking about Republicans? Sounds like she has BECOME a Republican from this quote.

Yes, I know, Trump won, due to unusual circumstances, but I firmly believe that being civil is also good politics, as long as you have done your homework, and seem creditable. I think in the K affair, the Dems hurt themselves by dialing up the heat dial too far. The Pubs have done the same to themselves, time and again. Yes, I know, the base demands it. Sometimes the base, maybe more than sometimes, gets in the way of ultimate success.

I hope in the end, that Trump proves to be a mere vagrant on the political waters, rather than a toxin that continues to infest the waters long after he has passed from the scene. Hillary has also not been much a calming influence. She never has been actually.

She's absolutely correct.

The Democrats try to "play nice" way too often, and usually lose.

On the contrary, Dems want to be able to act like trash like Republicans, but don't understand most of their voters, if they wanted that sort of trash behavior, would vote Republican in the first place if that's what they wanted.

Hillary is just continuing to demonstrate her complete blindness as to why she lost and I just wish her and her sexually deviant husband would just go away.

You're not even a Democrat, so what would you know about what most Democratic voters want?

Also, no one is advocating for "trash behavior", so miss me with that bullsh!t.

I'm a longtime Dem voter and supporter. Though it seems people are hellbent on turning me away from the party.

Long story short, the people who whine and outright harass people who don't bow down and worship the party leadership--what's effectively turned into the Dem version of the GOP cult. And people who refuse to see that supporting this sort of whiny "waaaah the GOP can be mean but we're not allowed to" garbage is exactly why Hillary lost--Dems are seen as wanting their fair allowance of spiteful behavior rather than actually offering solutions to anything.

Why don't you just confess that you're obsessed with me?

Also, ignoring the fact that your party nominated Donald Trump.

Nominating Trump sort of denies you the validity of criticizing the other side when the GOP has shown it literally has zero standards.

Not surprising coming from the founder of ISIS. It's not like running a child sex trafficking ring out of the basement of a pizza place is a particularly civil thing to do in the first place.

This is controversial? Republicans put children in cages. There's no moral equivalence between the two major parties, and to argue that we should respect these differences as if they're just regular differences of opinion between two equally reasonable factions is a pretty heinous notion.

Everyone should strive to be civil with each other, otherwise we don't have a country.  I know Hillary doesn't mean this.

I don't agree with her comments but I find it hilarious that the party that chants "Lock Her/Him Up" to almost every Democratic politician is so offended by this.

Truly a group of snowflakes.

It's both hilarious and sad how people forget that ISIS sprang up in 2006-07 from the ashes of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

How do you promote civil discourse when one side is all about "owning the libs?"

Democrats aren't angels, but it's quite easy to claim the moral high ground when the other side has abandoned all pretense of morality.

Both sides should be moral.  If Democrats have given up on that, all hope is lost - shame on them.

Being civil isn't about "will it benefit me", its just the right thing to do.
