Yeah, Obama is a pretty average public speaker.

Another thing that demotes him as a speaker is how he overuses (and occasionally misuses) the pregnant pause.  I remember a few times during the campaign when he would insert a pause in the middle of a sentence where it had little rhetorical purpose.
