Yes, but in GA and NC, and not as much as some R users could think

No. He's boring, weird, brings abortion baggage, and won't make a dent in fulfilling Trump's goal of getting more than 12% of the black vote.

Maybe somewhat, because the bar for Republicans has become so low that anyone not talking like a complete wacko is already seen as "sane Republican" and portrayed as such by the media.

On the other hand, I wonder whether Trump could lose some voters due to racism as well.

I honestly never understood that notion.

He is a somewhat awkward, socio-politically controversial, mid-level politician that does not exactly scream in-touch with black American culture (if you want to play the identity politics card)

No we got Clarence Thomas and Scott supported ending Affirmative Action and ending pause on Student loans all what Clarence Thomas support and Abortion

Harris would run rings around those three issues when they debate just like she said Pence support GORSUCH

I actually think Tim Scott is the best VP choice for Trump. Taking a point or two with black voters very well could win the election

He might not add much, but he might not hurt either.

Scott is media-tested and doesn't have too much baggage. Sometimes, a break-even VP pick works, especially in the current environment where Trump is ahead in the polls

Yes, somewhat, but on the margin, the election isn't going to be decided in the South.  If things are tilting strongly one way or the other, Scott could be the reason Trump holds onto Texas or wins Virginia.  However, Georgia and North Carolina, where he adds the most, are both unlikely to be the median state in the EC.

I agree. He seems very divorced from black culture. Trump has more cred than him. I would expect this pick to actually backfire as craven pandering, which would be funny when Trump always claims to be above identity politics and PC culture and pandering. On top of that, he’s not particularly charismatic or interesting.

He is one of Trump’s worst possible options.
