Objecting the proposed amendment.
let's be honest that others will end up making it anyway.
is not a reason to suddenly allow it.
I also don't see a reason to hamstring our researchers here, especially when increasingly powerful computers and even simple AI are helping us so much at the moment in multiple fields (I actually attended a seminar at the AMS conference today talking about how they're reducing unpredictability in their models with AI)
I understand your intention here
8. Prohibited artificial intelligence means any real or theoretical program or software code that:
B. achieves self-awareness as found in humans;
C. is capable of animating or controlling a human body; or
D. is or purports to be the uploaded soul, life, consciousness, personality, or memories of a specific human.
But in particular these issues are worrying and I believe we need to curb or limit this research until we're fully able to comprehend the consequences of said A.I. while C and D are morally questionable. The dangers of said A.I. are much bigger than the possible advantages. A.I. is a broad concept but as described in 8B, 8C and 8D seem to be dangerous rather than helpful. 8A is indeed a bit too restrictive and i would support an amendment removing 8A.
But your entire amendment, i do not support, thus I object.
