I’d argue that in some cases, they’re too trusting (such as in the media)

And education.

Schools are nothing less than indoctrination factories which repudiate independent thinking and reward obedience. This is true at all levels but is perhaps most obvious in the university, which is heralded as the necessary entrance to civilized society by the very same liberal elites who control them, and run them as for-profit enterprises which crush students' debt by raising tuitions to fund academia's lavish salaries and churn out substandard education devoid of inquiry or practical knowledge. And yet, most people continue to esteem academia, hold state- or profit-run education in high regard, and assume whatever information they convey is genuine rather than coerced propaganda.
