Mike Huckabee made his third appearance on the Colbert Report this week, here's an excerpt from the interview (Colbert's question is given the assumption that Huckabee is a first tier candidate due to his showing in the Iowa Straw Poll):

Colbert: Who is it that's gunning for you now that you're on top? Who reminds you of a young Mike Huckabee?

Huckabee: A young Mike Huckabee? I thought I was a young Mike Huckabee. Um, maybe it's Ron Paul.

Huckabee isn't a bad candidate, if he changed his position on the war he might be deserving of a vote or two. But he has so few campaign funds that he can't last in the primaries. When he drops out, I wouldn't be surprised to see him endorse Ron Paul.

Go back and watch the Iowa GOP debate where Ron Paul pwn'd Romney, and notice Huckabee's reaction. He loved it.

Right now Huckabee is playing the game. His camp is'nt thinking any differently than the Paul camp would be had Ron pulled second place in Iowa. They're not thinking about running out of money, or dropping out. They're thinking about winning, and in the game of politics he's winking at the Paul campaign in a way that alludes to his possible consideration for Paul as a running mate. He's hoping the 2 camps can hitch their wagons.

If Ron Paul so much as mentions Huckabee's name in an interview this week both of their numbers will jump, Romney's should come down a few points, and could possibly nudge Brownback from the race.
