There are some pretty impressive gems in there. Appearantly US authorities thought it wasn't a bad idea to detain (and torture) innocent people who might have had inside knowledge of the Taliban or such suspect organisations as Al-Jazeera. Also stories about how a specific Casio watch is a sign of links to Al-Qaeda and the detainment of a senile 89-year old man and a 14-year old kid.

I'm not stating an opinion here but, what do you do with the prisoners if it's closed?  The president broke his promise because he realizes it's not as easy as saying he's going to close it.  I don't know what obstacles might be in place but, I'm sure there are some if it's still opened.

One of the things up there that's most shocking is who the Guantanamo prisoners actually are and on what grounds they're there. They include(d) an Al-Jazeera contributor exclusively held captive because the US government deemed it necessary to find out how that organisation functioned, a mullah from NW Pakistan who was taken in captivity because all mullahs know stuff about the Taliban (turns out they don't), and a whole lot of people who might have had knowledge of the Taliban but didn't support it in any way. I rmember the story about an Antwerp bussinesman of Pakistani origins who was lured to Islamabad by his contacts and then sold to the American authorities. Many of these people shouldn't have been taken as prisoners in the first place.
