If former Gov. Lincoln Chafee, ever won the Democratic nomination, how would he fare against the GOP field?  Please discuss with maps.

Honestly, I think he'd be the worst possible Democratic candidate. He'd probably lose to any of the Republican candidates with political experience.

Oh yes. At least Sanders could get base turnout up.

But people might come for meters from all around to see his rousing stump speech about the metric system.

Chafee can't win the nomination.  It won't happen in a million kiloseconds.

What's amazing about Chafee 2016 is that it's ending up somehow even worse than any one could've expected.

$30,000 from people not named Lincoln Chafee? Ouch.

It would be a good day for him if he got over 200 electoral votes.

I don't see why his position on the metric system is some kind of joke. Honestly, I think it's refreshing to see a candidate taking it seriously. This is something scientists have been pushing for a long time now, and with good reason. It's much better than the English unit system. I doubt he thinks he's scoring big political points by bringing it up so I assume his position is sincere. We lost a Mars orbiter because someone didn't convert inches to centimeters. It's not a trivial issue. The joke is that no one seems to care.

If the Republicans were winning by the popular vote margins you assert, they would also win by MUCH greater electoral margins than those shown on your maps.

Sigh, bronz.
Anyway, probably something like that:

Republicans win 279-259.

I think Iowa (and probably New Hampshire and Virginia) would go Republican before Pennsylvania, and that Colorado would do so before Nevada.

I know. Chafee will never be the nominee. Cabinet position in a Democratic administration, maybe.

No, no, not even that.

He would lose badly to almost any Republican candidate.
