What exactly is an emergency? (I know what it means but we need a precise definition)

Wait this has been on the floor since June?? If this happened in my legislature I’d be screaming bloody murder months ago... to be fair, this is a bi-cameral body so maybe I shouldn’t be too harsh.

I’ll bail this body out despite not being a member of it and suggest possible definitions of an emergency. Death in immediate family or if an immediate family member is in a hospice or has committed suicide.

Okay slightly off-topic but have the new Congresses here and IRL both sworn in on the same day before? This year they were 1 day part.

It’s in everybody’s best interest if at least parts of these discussions were held on the floor (which AFAIK was more common pre-reset).

This is essentially writing a bill from scratch so I doubt how feasible that would be in reality as nice as it sounds in theory, people will of course get the chance to debate aspects of the bill and discuss it fully once it is fully written-which is not yet the case.

Yea, that’s more of a general rule of thumb and not applicable in every case.
