New Committee to be formed on allowing refugees in Atlasia

Tonight at around 7:00, Secretary of State Classic Conservative will announce the members of the committee to allow refugees in Atlasia. SOS Classic Conservative commented earlier this morning on Fox and Friends about the situation here's what he said. "Last night, I had a meeting with the Bishop of Erbil, Christian Activists, Kurdish Government Leaders and Religious Groups about the genocide that is happening in the Middle East and I decided that this is not right that our country hasn't done anything to stop the holocaust in Northern Iraq. Whether it's with Yazidi's on Sinjar on Christians from Nineveh Plains.
We must do something before it's too late."

SOS Classic Conservative meets with French Officials
Over the past few days, Secretary of State Classic Conservative met with French government officials and families of the victims. He made a few remarks at a press conference in Avignon, France. "I'm here in Avignon for a few reasons today, firstly because this is where DAESH wants to meet the 'armies of Rome' again once they capture the northern part of Africa and Spain to establish their caliphate. Secondly, I'd like to express the government of Atlasia's deepest condolences on behalf of President Griffin to the victims of the horrible massacres in Paris and also Beruit and Baghdad. We must also address the root of the problem which is radical Islamic terrorism. Tomorrow morning I will be flying to California for a funeral of the one Atlasian citizen who was killed by these jihadist, Nohemi Gonzalez, I'd also like to express my condolences to them. And I finally ask all Atlasians to pray for Paris and the world at this time.

SOS Classic Conservative holds a 'Free the Hostages' rally in Erbil
After leaving Avignon, SOS Classic Conservative flew to Erbil to hold a 'Free the Hostages' rally with Special Envoy JCL and the Ambassador to Iraq along with many local religious and human rights activists. SOS Classic Conservative had a 45 minute conversation with the President of Iran on the situation and the two are working together to create a solution which will hopefully happen by the end of the month.

Armenia ends relations with PROC, opens relations with the ROC
This morning the Regan Building learnt that on Friday the 20th the Republic of Armenia will close all diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China and will instead open diplomatic relations with the Republic of China located in Taiwan. This is a big step for the Republic of China who's campaign for being the legitimate successor to China is growing larger each and every day.

The Peshmerga Retake Mosul
This morning the State Department has learned that the Kurdish armed force known as the Peshmerga, who are one of our greatest allies retook the key DAESH stronghold of Mosul. Mosul at this time is being cleared out of all DAESH supporters, while small engagements are happening on the Western Border of the city. We have learned through the Peshmerga that a mass grave of 2,000 Christians and Yazidi's has been found in a local graveyard. Further cementing the Department of State's view that a genocide is happening in the Middle East. The Department of State is also sending around 50 special operations specialists to Mosul to assess the situation and help clear out DAESH supporters.

The Merit of leaving Assad in power in Syria
By Atlasian Envoy to the Middle East and Asia JCL

Like many of my fellow Atlasians, I am leery of protracted war and conflict for it does not lead to tranquility and honest commerce. I personally am descended from Hessian stock and many of those ancestors were known as honorable soldiers for both the Holy Roman Empire and the United Kingdom. We came to Atlasia to seek freedom to worship God according to our conscience. That conscience led many of my ancestors to lay down our swords and that caused a lot of friction with those royals. I say that so I can leave a context for some difficult things that Atlasians may need to address.

Our relationship with the Russian Federation is unfortunately not the best at this time but they are stepping up, with their local allies, to beat back Daesh (Islamic State). We both have allies on the ground (we have the Kurds/Peshmerga, they the forces of the legitimate government led by Bashar Al Assad). Should we not get together with the Russians and Assad to formulate a comprehensive strategy to defeat the forces of ISIS.

I get why many don't like Assad and think he shouldn't be the ruler of Syria. Here is why that is bad for the stability of the region. First of all, Assad has a degree of tolerance towards Christians and other religious minorities. A September 1, 2013 article on the website of the Huffington post
(article cited  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/01/rand-paul-syria_n_3852644.html ) has a RL US Senator (political party of the senator is irrelevant) talk about the history of Assad coming to the aid of Christians and other religious minorities  even President Obama had to admit the same thing ( http://english.al-akhbar.com/node/21494 )

Besides the protection given to Christians and other religious minorities , we also have a common enemy, Daesh (ISIS). Many of us thought the Arab Spring was going to bring positive development and representative, freedom and tolerance promoting, government to the nations which its reach was fully felt. Sadly for much of them it went to direction of radical Islamist extremism.

Quite frankly (speaking as a citizen and not as Envoy to the Middle East and Asia right now) I'm grieved that our relations with the Russian Federation have soured over the past several years. After so much progress, since their nations repudiation of communism, our nations became the great brothers of the north.

What I recommend, for the sake of life, peace and international good will, is what I'm calling the Stonewall-Nicea-Amman Accords. The vision of these accords is to aid in handling the refugees who are being persecuted due to religious belief or sexual orientation. Then we can fully address the formation of a coalition to defeat Daesh and take a great step closer towards peace.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!
FIDEL CASTRO DEAD AT 89
August 13, 1926-December 22, 2015

The leader of Cuba for more than 55 years, passed away earlier today at his home in Havana. The communist ruler of Cuba came to power in the late 1950's after fighting against the repressive regime of Fulgencio Batista. Castro politically aligned himself as a Marxist and was close allies with the Soviet Union, The People's Republic of China and Vietnam. Castro who took over a majority Catholic nation basically outlawed many religious practices and infringend on human rights. He was famous as many older Atlasians know for the Cuban Missile Crisis in the earlier 1960's. After the fall of the Soviets, Castro tried to form socialist paradises across Latin and South America including the failed regime of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. Castro resigned from the office of the President of Cuba in 2008 and was followed by his brother Raul who still reigns. Castro was born in Birán Cuba, where he fought against repressive regimes including Batistas. Castro finally made his mark in the late 50's after hiding in the mountains for many years. His revolution was supported mostly by college students and socialist revolutionaries. At this time it is believed Castro died of old age with minor health problems. A funeral is expected to be held after the New Year.

Jesus Christ.

Also, I suggest you look at this post:

OFFICE OF THE GAME MODERATOR
State of the World Address

In Asia, we have seen a reduction of military aid across the board. The result of this has been a dramatic reduction of our presence in the region. The Atlasian Forces Korea (AFK) have been completely withdrawn, leaving that country to the predations of the North. Likewise, our total departure from Okinawa has spurred even more militarism in that country than previously thought. A comprehensive re-evaluation of our policy to those nations is needed lest they feel abandoned by their erstwhile ally.

Unfortunately, our relations with China are far poorer than we anticipated. This is likely related to the fact that in 2008 we called for an "independent Tebet" [sic] and "fully recognized Taiwan as an independent country". Furthermore, the fact we have openly passed legislation authorising funding of dissident "operatives" in that country does not help. The results have been predictable, and the Chinese have been highly uncooperative ever since. They have refused to accept any of our Ambassadors' credentials since that time, nor have they bothered sending any Ambassadors to Nyman, meaning bilateral relations are being conducted by both nations' charges d'affaires. The SoEA's visit in 2010 helped reverse this somewhat, but the crux of the issue remains oustanding. This is a rather sorry state of affairs, especially considering the Taiwanese have not declared independence and that even the Dalai Lama does not advocate for Tibetan independence. It is of utmost importance that a high-ranking Atlasian delegation- the President himself if possible, and if not then certainly the SoEA- be sent to make amends.

Unfortunately, the Global Treaty Organisation has languished in recent years. Only three nations- Colombia, India, and Atlasia, ever ratified the Global Treaty. Nor have we appointed an Ambassador to the GTO, I believe, since 2011- more than 3 years ago. I, however, believe we can revitalise this organisation. The GTO can and should be transformed into an Asia-Pacific Treaty Organisation, uniting nations in the Asia-Pacific Rim in the interests of collective security. I urge the Senate to amend the Global Treaty to this effect. Our recent defence agreement with Australia and New Zealand can be integrated into this organisation to great effect.

On the matter of Iran, that nation's intentions have been made clear for some time- nuclear weapons capabilities- and it has been allowed to gain them. This is a major failing on our part. We must engage President Rouhani's administration to attempt disarmament, at all costs. In Iraq, we left in 2011, and the situation there has been tenuous. As we can now see, the rapid expansion of ISIS presents a challenge to that nation's stability... and there is new news on that front. But it is our withdrawal from Afghanistan, two years ago, that presents a greater challenge. The situation in that country, as it conducts its elections, is extremely precarious. However, some legislation has improved the condition of women in that country. Furthermore, recent legislation that completely bans Atlasian companies from selling arms to foreign countries, including our allies, as well as prohibiting training of foreign forces has severely impacted our relations, as well as our economy- the effects of which shall be discussed as at a later date. But the fact is not a single arm can be sold outside the country, which means catastrophe for any nation we call an ally. This absolutely atrocious piece of legislation, which passed unanimously, must be repealed posthaste.

In Africa, we have made great strides forward. The Atlasian-African Free Trade Bill has done much to boost the economy of the nations of that continent. Furthermore, it means that we, politically, have lost far less ground relative to China- or more accurately, gained ground relative to the nations of Europe- on that continent. It means that the exports of those states to what we assumed they were in those states are appreciably higher than previously thought. However, this agreement has also meant there has been a considerable influx of subsidised agricultural products into the continent, which has hurt local farmers. This practice, which has have known of for decades, has been magnified by the inability of African states to impose tarriffs on subsidised Atlasian imports. Therefore, in order to balance the playing field, I urge the Senate to either repeal these agricultural subsidies or to impose export tariffs on agricultural exports to developing countries (as designated by the IMF).

In Latin America, recall that President Chavez of Venezuela was overthrown a few years back. Furthermore, we lifted sanctions on Cuba. As a result, the Castro regime has been greatly weakened, and, as a result of popular protests, has consented to multi-party elections scheduled for September 15, 2014.

Across the board, a wide variety of Free Trade Agreements have bolstered the economy considerably, and those of the signatories. But it is not enough to mitigate the considerable losses of an understandably confused foreign policy. The SoEA will have a considerable task ahead, and there may be more yet still to be discovered.

Last spring, while I was a Senator, I authored legislation that repealed the Pacific Defense and Taiwanese Protection Act. I hope that our relationship with China has improved since then.

It's closer to since the Partition of Poland, or 220 years. In Poland-Lithuania and Prussian and Russian Poland, nobles and rich people were always allowed firearms, whereas poor farmers and such could never afford it. In Austrian Poland, Austrian nobles could bear arms, while most rich Polish and Polish nobles fled to Prussia or Russia.

In other words, I suggest you not do so again. It could be dangerous to exaggerate federal support for a war or number of our troops. I advise you to ask the respective department which relates to such information for correct information in the future.

ISIS Trail of Terror being combatted in the air, sea and on land

The Atlasian led coalition has been pretty effective as of late, destroying major areas of support of the Islamic State, including the so called "ISIS University", major oil centers, the suburbs of Mosul and the vast majority of the Christian Nineveh Plains. Meanwhile the President and the State Department are coming up with a solution with the Yemeni and Libyan problems.

Yemen in Chaos

The Yemeni Civil War died down for some time last year. But, with the Saudis execution of a Shia Cleric, the war was regenerated to what some are calling a second Syria. Atlasia has confirmed that around 10,000 citizens have died since the beginning of the January. Currently, Taiz has been bombarded since the 10th of January and is beginning to look like Aleppo with over forty percent of the city rumbled and in ruins. The vast majority of the civilian deaths have taken place in Taiz and the country is currently in shambles with The quasi-Iranian state in currently of the North, the quasi- Saudi state in the middle and south and the radical Sunni state in the West. On Friday during prayers, 3 major Sunni mosques were blown up in Aden. The State Department and White House are being briefed daily on the situation.

The United Nations Update

The United Nations has allowed a few countries into its roles these past few years including Tibet and the ROC. Other than that, the United Nations has announced the date of the election for its new Secretary-General. Some major candidates include Israeli Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Srjan Kerim and Lech Wałęsa of Poland. The election has been scheduled for, February 25, 2016.

Yeah but we're going into the complete world of fantasy if the head of the UN is Bibi (someone who the EU, Non-Alligned movement and heck even the 40% of Israeli voters would oppose as head of the UN) Yitzhak Rabin is the only Israeli PM who had a chance of getting anything at the UN.

Fourth Edition- February 10, 2016

The Battle of the Arabian Night

We have some breaking news about what people are calling the new Battle of Waterloo in Yemen yesterday there was a massive battle between three different sides currently fighting in the Yemeni Civil War. The three sides are the Yemeni Government Forces who were supported by Saudi Arabia, The Houthi Warriors being backed by Iranian Soldiers and Al Qaeda supported by local forces from the deserts. The reason they are calling the battle "The Battle of the Arabian Night" is the local forces on the the radical sunni side, rode in on Arabian Horses which some are calling "something out of the 9th century." Intial reports are that over 8,000 soldiers have died already within the first 36 hours, as we speak we believe that the Yemeni Government Forces are surronded on all sides by the Houthi and Al Qaedan forces. The battle could be a massive blood bath, with sources on the ground saying that Yemeni Government are sending over 3,000 forces to back up their side. It is estimated that over 250 civilians from the local areas have been killed so far, with over 100 missing. We ask that the Atlasian Government takes action on this matter and that Atlasia keeps Yemen in their thoughts and prayer.

Islamic State Captures Benghazi
The Islamic State which has launched a massive operation in Libya has taken over Benghazi, Libya and its ports which include over 150 ships just miles from Europe. The IS, has been in close contact fighting for months now with forces to try to take Benghazi. The victory there has been used as a major recuritment effort for Westerners and ISIS inspired websites have seen their internet traffic go up 2000% over the past 24 hours.

Pakistani Miltias Launches Major Attacks Against Christians
Over, the past few months, the International Concordia has been the only newspaper bringing up the persecution of Christians in Iraq, Syria and Pakistan. Over the past month violence against Christians in Pakistan has grown expontentially. But, over the past week after, Atlasia granted asylum to over 1,500 Christians and other religious minorities. Local Pakistani Militas have targeted, Christian communities across Pakistan especially in Lahore. Strict Sharia communities have raped, murdered and forced conversion on over 5,000 Christians in Lahore alone. The Atlasian Embassy has opened its door to all Christians but we ask Atlasia and worldwide governments to fight the persecution of all religions especially Middle Eastern and Asian Christians. We thank Poland stepping up to allow 9,000 Pakistani Christians in their country.

How would the ROC and Tibet ever be admitted to the UN? China would obviously veto any attempt. Tibet isn't even a functioning state...

The head of the UN tends to be a rather backroom, executive type figure or someone who can get a broad consensus-Bibi and Lech aren't people like that at all
Well when I was looking at the list of potential candidates they had Merkel, the PM of Lithuania etc. so I took a few names and decided that way and everything here was given the heads up by Enduro.

Neither of those are realistic choices. People were talking up Bill Clinton back in 2006, but didn't make it plausible. The most likely choice is the UNESCO director, she's from Eastern Europe (Bulgaria) and a woman, two groups not yet represented in the Secretary-Generalship. At the very least there is a rather obvious consensus that the next SG should be a woman.

I didn't know Helle was still in office. I don't recall that.
