I've got a horrible feeling England will fluke their way to the semis, although I would quite enjoy them getting pumped by the Germans.

BBC seem very surprised Italy aren't ahead. TBH apart from the offside trap's utter failure England's defense has been great. Not letting Italy get clear shots.

Joy. Unbridled joy. My family was thoroughly amused by my reactions.

Oh no, not again...

To be honest though, we've not been great all tournament. Definitely wasn't a cup winning performance, that. Definitely.

Fantastic game. Really beautiful. By far the best I've seen so far in this Euro. It was really a nailbiter all along.

And WE WON ! Cheesy I don't want to seem boastful, but we are a quite great team. We had our bad moments (with Balotelli's great ability to spoil every occation) but we dominated the game in terms of ball possession and of shots on target. It was a deserved win and something very encouraging for our chances.

Now, Germany. It's a classic, so I expect a great match whoever wins (and I hope the historical tradition of Italy being the only team able to beat Germany will persist).

FORZA AZZURRI ! Cheesy

Of course, a victory against England in a penalty shoot-out isn't really a victory at all. But still, Italy deserved it anyway. We were crap. Very surprised we took them all the way to penalties.

Not too scared of you considering the not all that impressive performance, but then again Germany has also been bad at converting goal scoring opportunities (until the 2nd half of the last game, at least).

Should be fun!

Congratulations to Italy! Though they should have won without penalties, what with all those missed chances.

Italy has only scored four goals the entire tournament, two of them against by far the worst team in the tournament. I think Germany will be fine.

Italy is never impressive, but always (well, often) effective. Wink

We were battered for two thirds of the game, it's miraculous we kept them to a semi-respectable loss to penalties.

Lief, can we get a few .gif's of asshat Joe Hart making faces before each penalty kick?

Hey, Joe. At least you get to go home and work on your hair dying a little early!

Didn't watch the game; something better on a different channel. Switched it on after things were over, noted glum faces in commentary box. Switched on news channel. Saw that Ingerland had lost on penalties. Laughed for about three minutes.

protip for ingerland in future tournaments: instead of fretting about penalties, perhaps you ought to learn how to, you know, win games against half decent sides.
