Thank you for calling it Cote d'Ivoire and not Ivory Coast
I've never been to Africa, but this seems like one of the better countries there. Unfortunately in the past 2 years or so it has had a civil war between the Mohammedean North and the Christian South (no guesses on which side I support
). This is another country, like Brazil and Nigeria, where the capital was moved inland away from a large coastal city. The new capital is something like "Yamasukaroo".
Before the current conflict Cote d'Ivoire was one of Africa's few success stories. Hopefully the dispute will be resolved quickly, so we don't have another 20 year marathon war like in Sudan and Sri Lanka.
