I was stunned to hear that Senator Bayh is retiring.

I remember it like it was five minutes ago.

I was shaving my face in the bathroom.  I was actually doing a pretty good job to avoid the dreaded razor burn that happens to me occasionally.  The radio was on-tuned to Rush Limbaugh because it was about 1PM when he broke the news: EVAN BAYH HAS ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT!

Well, I cannot lie-I was pleasantly surprised.  I smiled at my half shaven face in the mirror.  I continued to listen to Rush for the rest of my shave but he only blurbed about the retirement for less than minute-there were more pressing issues to talk about.  After all, the seat is probably going to a Republican now anyway.  Onto other things.

So what do you guys think about this?

I was not stunned.  Bayh went from impregnable to one of those possible GOP pickups in about 4-8 weeks.  Add IN to that list of probables (DE, PA, ND, AR, CO, & ND).  41 seats to 48 seats, with one other strengthening (IN).  That could be the line held by the D's this year.

If you showered before you shaved you probably wouldn't get as much of a burn. The hot shower water opens up your pores and makes shaving less abrasive.
