I mean, pure logic tells you that there have to be many of them, based on where both candidates are doing well.

My question is.......why is this happening? Why would a romney voter in 2012 not go kasich instead?

What good Republican option existed in 2012 after New Hampshire was over? Newt Gingrich was relevant for what? Another 3 weeks maximum? That's like 2 states.

And no, the numbers don't necessarily imply a significant number did that (though yes, many do exist) because Trump has caused the number of primary voters to balloon. You can't look at percentages to imply things like that.

I'm not sure who I would've voted for in the '12 primary after Pawlenty was out. I guess Huntsman, but I don't know if I'd pick him over Obama. Thankfully I was ineligible for the primary so I didn't have to bite my tongue with Santorum.

I'm not actually one. I'm actually a Huntsman-Trump voter, but he was out of the race by the time I voted, so I voted Romney.

Perhaps someone who wants the primaries to be over as quickly as possible, so always backs the front-runner?

Sort of makes you wonder what would have happened in MA had Romney run this year, or had Trump run in 2012.  I think it could have been competitive, since both are strong candidates for the state for obvious reasons.  I'm inclined to think Romney would have won narrowly against him in 2012, and that Trump would have decisively beaten Romney this year, though not to the extent that he did against Rubio/Kasich.
