sheesh, an endless list right?
Horse With No Name people just KNOW is a Neil Young song. It's not.
Everything Jackyl did sounded exactly like an AC/DC song, for that matter so did every AC/DC song. Neither of these are bad things.
A lot artists are actively
trying to sound like their idols, especially when they are young. Speaking of Aerosmith, the first album sounds a lot like the Yardbirds....'cause they wanted it to. 'cause the Yardbirds rocked. Same with early Zeppelin (it helped that they
were the Yardbirds, or what was left of them
). The singer of my favorite band heard Bad Religion's Suffer and made him realize a punk song can have a melody too, so NOFX's next few albums sounded a LOT like Suffer. And then there are the legion of mediocre bands that are lesser parts of a bigger wave who copy other artists not out of love of the art, but for the love of the dollars (and girls, it's always about girls). Every wave has them.
