Welcome, members, to the online Liberal Party convention. The Liberal Party stands for believes in individual liberty, a strong foundation of political and civil rights, and building upon what makes Atlasia prosper. In this convention, we will conduct official party including endorsements and a vote for party leadership.
Normally, this convention would start at the beginning of the month, but I chose to wait for the emergency convention to officially end. The convention will be conducted in accordance with the by-laws, which are attached here for your convenience.
Liberal Party of Atlasia by-laws
Article 1. Membership and Voting
1. All people who have been registered for a week under "Liberal Party", "Liberal", "Lib", and "Liberal Party of Atlasia" shall be considered full members of the Liberal Party of Atlasia.
2. All registered members shall have the right to vote, propose amendments to the party platform and to the by-laws, and to participate in party caucuses and forums.
3. All votes shall be held using the "score voting" voting system in which voters give each candidate a score, the scores are added or averaged, and the candidate with the highest total is selected, and other candidates with the highest scores aside from the winner in endorsement voting shall be endorsed for other preferences.
Article 2. Conventions
1. Liberal Party conventions shall start during the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December.
2. All Liberal Party Conventions shall be held online, and during the convention, party business shall be conducted.
3. In the first and second weeks of the convention, the party is open to endorsements of elections during the month of the convention. In the latter two weeks, the party will be open to endorsements in the month following the election, should there be an election. All Liberal Party candidates are auto-endorsed
4. Throughout the entire convention, the party shall be open to by-law/platform changes.
5. In the final two weeks of the convention, there shall be nominations for party leadership, with there being a vote in the final week for the leadership.
Article 3. Leadership Structure
1. Chairman
a. The official leader of the Liberal Party
b. In charge of the convention
c. Officiates Party voting
d. Is in charge of negotiating with Other Parties
e. Is in charge of party strategy
2. Deputy Chairman
a. Takes over the responsibilities of the Chair should they be absent for 72 hours, or be on a leave of absence.
b. Is in charge of party recruitment
c. Responsible for leading the party in NPC affairs
Article 4. Caucuses/Party Forums
1. Should a member of the Liberal Party create a caucus, and should the Chair allow the creation of the caucus, then the caucus shall be considered an official caucus of the Liberal Party.
2. The caucuses shall elect leaders and shall have platforms of their own.
3. Should a caucus leader or Party Chairman/Deputy Chairman call for a party forum, there shall be a thread dedicated to the party forum.
4. In a party forum, the party shall allow amendments to the by-laws and platform, party committees, endorsements for special elections, and with the approval of the Chairman and Vice Chairman, the by-laws can be suspended to allow for mergers and dissolutions and name changes.
Article 5. Party Message1. The Liberal Party shall have an official message or theme in the start of the convention written by the Chairman of the Party about the party.
