I got around to watching HBO's Recount all the way through. I was shopping at Dollar Tree and I happened to find it in a side bin for $1 I couldn't refuse. I also got my first ever dry erase board in tribute to Tim Russert. A nice evening I had.

As for the film it wasn't as bad as I figured, I enjoyed it really. Until the end that is then I got pretty bummed out.  It's a left based film as it focuses on Gore and paints Bush and Co as cartoonish villains (even if I enjoyed Baker's character in this,) it's one sided. In a lot of ways it works because the Dems were the underdogs but it would have been cool if showed what went on in Dubya's camp to besides just a few short scenes.

The ending was where the bumming out comes in.  Who won is history but damn if you don't feel bad for the protagonists.  Then to top it off that idiot Harris gets to congress. Good grief. Dern was awesome in that role because never before have I just loathed and booed a character each time he/she appears like I did her.

They REALLY painted Harris as a bumbling idiot

The painter can only help the model so much.

True that.

Dern always played her with that creepy dazed look in her eyes all the time. It was funny but then she got to be annoying "I'm the queen who can save her people..." oh god.  Then to top it off they try to make you feel sorry for her, no thanks.

I wish they showed more of Gore and Dubya beside the voice actors.  The guy who did Bush was okay but the Gore guy didn't really sound like him.

Is Game Change good? Heard Moore killed it as Palin.

I liked Recount. Seen and Spacey were the highlights for me.

Game Change is fantastic imo

Spacey was awesome. Best pick for that role even if he was nothing like the real guy in looks. Same for Wilkinson as James Baker. He deserves his own film about Baker.

TBH I thought Ed Begley Jr was the most underrated part of the film. He did awesome and didn't get a lick of praise. Kind of sad really because he was a show stealer on the Dem's side.

I'm still bummed out about the ending. Curse you Jay Roach and your style! Wink
