Opinion of Tristram Shandy, gentleman either as described in Sternes novel or (if you too never got around to reading it) as halucinated during experiments with various chemical substances.

Just looked up the text online, and I've definitely read a lot of it.. possibly all of it before, I think probably in the 80s or the early 90s.  Good lord I'm getting forgetful in my old age.

I hate the expression "ahead of its time," because it's usually used to imply that something of a certain level of quality is inconceivable for people from previous generations to achieve.  Tristram Shandy is different: it's ahead of its time in that it uses literary techniques that wouldn't even be properly introduced or formalized for close to two centuries after is appearance.  It's structured like a 20th century book.
