Grover Cleveland does not run in 1892. Benjamin Harrison narrowly wins reelection the same year by defeating Democratic New York Governor David B. Hill. The Panic of 1893 still occurs as in RL, but Harrison gets the blame for it. Unemployment is 15% in 1896 and the economy is still in recession. In 1896, the Democrats nominate Grover Cleveland, who decides to run this year. The Republicans nominate Ohio Governor William McKinley. How would this election turn out? Discuss, with maps.

I think that with unemployment that high Cleveland would win OR, IL, WI, IN, and possibly OH and WY. I think that too many people will associate McKinley with Harrison (he was a strong proponent of Harrison's economic policies in the House of Representatives) for the electoral vote to be this close.
