Alex Azar officially resigns.

Quote
Alex Azar, the Health and Human Services Secretary, resigned earlier this week, citing the violent Capitol riot inflamed by President Donald Trump in his resignation letter obtained by NBC News.

Azar said his resignation would become effective on Jan. 20th — the same date he would have been leaving office once President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in. The letter was dated Jan. 12, almost a week after the riot.

He said that the attack — which left five people dead and many injured — and the president's slow response to condemn it, threaten to "tarnish" the achievements the administration has made over the past four years. In particular, Operation Warp Speed, which led to the creation of two vaccines to combat the raging coronavirus pandemic.

"The attacks on the Capitol were an assault on our Democracy and the tradition of peaceful transitions of power that the United States of America first brought to the world," he said. "I Implore you to continue to condemn unequivocally any form of violence, to demand that no one attempt to disrupt the inaugural activities in Washington or elsewhere and to continue to support unreservedly the peaceful and orderly transition of power on January 20, 2021."

"With the pandemic raging, the continued need to deliver vaccines and therapeutics to the American people, and the imperative of ensuring a smooth transition to the Biden Administration, I have determined that it is in the best interest of the people we serve to remain as Secretary until the end of the term," he added.

Have many Trump supporters been around since Trump attempted a coup?
I’ve only seen Del Tachi post a few times, and have yet to hear from Fuzzy Bear or SirWoodbury.
I hopeful that they now see they were wrong to support him but I also kinda doubt it.

Here is Fuzzy's recent statement regarding trump's Traitorous actions that incited a terrorist insurrection at The Capitol ...

... the idea that Trump "instigated insurrection" is preposterous, and will be found so by history.

Unfortunately, it seems like Fuzzy Bear does believe that Trump had nothing to do with the attack, and that he shouldn't be held responsible for it.

The news here is threefold:
1. Zip-tie guy has been arrested
2. So has his mother, who accompanied him to the Capitol
3. Both have been charged by the FBI for several crimes, including conspiracy charges, with both known and unknown suspects.

Fuzzy made a post suggesting Trump should resign. He's been very quiet though.

Woodbury is probably in federal custody.

He's been sh**tposting support for Trump and apologism for the Capitol rioters on AAD.

‘Trump said to do so’: Accounts of rioters who say the president spurred them to rush the Capitol could be pivotal testimony

Quote
A man from Kentucky told the FBI that he and his cousin began marching toward the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 because “President Trump said to do so.” Chanting “Stop the steal,” the two men tramped through the building and snapped a photo of themselves with their middle fingers raised, according to court documents.

A video clip of another group of rioters mobbing the steps of the Capitol caught one man screaming at a police officer: “We were invited here! We were invited by the president of the United States!”

A retired firefighter from Pennsylvania who has been charged with throwing a fire extinguisher at police officers felt he was “instructed” to go to the Capitol by the president, a tipster told the FBI, according to court documents.

The accounts of people who said they were inspired by the president to take part in the melee inside the Capitol vividly show the impact of Trump’s months-long attack on the integrity of the 2020 election and his exhortations to supporters to “fight” the results.

Inauguration's not for another three days, a bit early to say this. Still wouldn't be the least bit surprising to see more violence.

It's still better to be safe than sorry. We should appreciate that the Trump terrorists are more incompetent than they seem to be to actually be able to organize. The Capitol insurrection appears to have been a perfect storm event. If anything, that one working out while the individual state revolts didn't just implicates Trump even more with his physical presence being the unifying factor that drew all of the seditionists to DC and caused them to work in tandem to storm the Capitol. They're like Orcs, they are the most threatening in large numbers and those numbers just aren't panning out in state Capitols.

We should still definitely be cautious about the inauguration in spite of all this.

Well obviously!
The reason these right wing terrorists aren’t doing stuff right now is specifically because of how prepared we are.
They know they can’t take down anything now...so why waste manpower? I suspect if these loonies do want more violence, they will do it periodically over the next few months, kinda similar to how the Troubles and the IRA wasn’t defined by only one event.

But why was he there with 500 rounds of ammo? There is nothing normal about having this amount of ammunition. Something is rotten in Denmark.

While I know nothing more than what was reported, to be fair to Beeler, that's an appropriate amount of ammunition for a few hours at the range.

Some things to keep in mind whenever there's a story about someone found with "hundreds or thousands of rounds of ammunition" (especially if it's at home, which I understand this wasn't): Ammunition stores well. Most people don't want to make a trip to their gunshop every single time they go to the range. Staying in practice with a firearm - which is part of carrying one responsibly, or participating in a sport like combat pistol - requires a regular time practicing at a range. And practice goes through a lot of ammunition. Add in just a dash of prepper, or simple penny-pinching, and what sounds like "huge" ammunition stockpiles can be just as reasonable as having a can of gasoline for your lawn mower and other small engines machines.

Here's what a case of 500 9mm rounds looks like:

One of my pet peeves is that it feels like reporting on firearms comes only in two flavors. Right-wing firearms reporting, which thinks an angels gets its wings every time someone buys a pistol with more tactical rails than they have hands. And left-wing firearms reporting, which breathlessly demonstrates a fearful inability to tell the difference between an 18th century antique and an illegally modified assault rifle.

We definitely aren't going to be out of the woods if nothing happens at the inauguration too, you're absolutely right about that. Right wing domestic terrorism is going to be a major problem in this country for the foreseeable future and I hope the Biden administration makes it a priority so that anything even remotely close to the Capitol riots gets quelled.

A Virginia man was arrested at a Washington checkpoint near the Capitol with an "unauthorized" inauguration pass, a gun and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, according to Capitol Police.

The suspect, identified as Wesley Allen Beeler, 31, was stopped at the checkpoint near Lower Senate Park about 6:30 p.m. Friday, an arrest report said. An unregistered gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found inside the truck that was adorned with gun decals days ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, according to Capitol Police.

lol, showing up to a checkpoint with a pickup trick with gun nut decals is not obvious at all.

In an incredible twist of irony, the rejection of masks among people on the right is proving to be the reason most of these rioters are being identified and arrested. You’d think they would have had some idea that maybe it’s a good idea to conceal your identity while committing felonies in front of literally thousands of cameras. But it works!

What do you want the cop to do here? Start a physical fight that he'd lose? Start shooting people?
