That's a huge first day for a midterm. Who does high turnout help more?

Given that the demographics for these voters are less than 50% White and that Republicans usually don't vote early, I'd say it's a decent sign for Ds.

Not going to take too much from Georgia’s Day 1 numbers but that breakdown by race numbers are not what republicans want to see.

Yeah, we'll have to keep watch but at least you can say that Black voters were energized to vote day 1. If that keeps up, bodes well for Ds.

Pretty insane - GA was only 13K off from 2020's first day (123K vs 136K)

Yeah, Clark got their ballots last week so I would've expected some #s to start popping up by now.

Is Souls to the Polls a thing in GA? Be interesting to see how that effects numbers over the weekend.

Yes, in those counties that have Sunday early voting.  IIRC the 2021 election law allows counties to optionally have up to two Sundays in the early voting period.  The GOP tried to eliminate Sunday voting entirely when the bill was first proposed, but there was a backlash and it remained legal.

https://idahocapitalsun.com/2022/10/17/idaho-counties-report-increase-in-requests-for-absentee-ballots-for-general-election/

Have some data on Canyon County (Nampa/Caldwell), finally. 13,971 ballots have been sent out as of today. 13,924 were sent out in 2018, so this is a marginal increase.

In Bonneville County (Idaho Falls), over 3000 ballots have been mailed out. County Clerk anticipates about 50% turnout.

Interesting - roughly 29% return rate for Dems so far, vs 25% for Reps

The notion that Republicans won't vote early is just massive fantasy by you and your uncle Tom Bonior from Target Smart. Republicans learned the hard way in 2020 by putting every egg in one basket. 2022 is way less restrictive compared to 2020 when COVID was spiking and there were no vaccines either.

The voter breakdown for the first day showed the White vote under 50%. That's clearly an underrepresentation of Republicans vs the actual electorate.

Jon Ralston has launched his Nevada early voting blog for 2022.  This is a must follow to read the Nevada tea leaves.
