When it comes to things like currency and travel, yes.  When it comes to countries in Europe wanting to maintain certain aspects of their culture, I'm much more sympathetic.  I know the two are often connected, so it's kind of hard to explain.

I think the only conceivable way we have to stick up to the global elite is through instruments like the EU. Yes, the EU as it exists is about as "global elite" as you're going to get, but as Brexit shows us, its break-up is also exploited by the very same elite (or at the very least, a different factions of the elite).
