By 2100, whose sphere of influence will most of SouthEast Asia fall under: the West, China, India?

None of the above

Indonesia has 273 million people. Philipines has 113 million. Vietnam has 100 million. Thiland has 73 million.

The idea that the global south automatically falls into a sphere of influence is laughable. Look at the recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Most countries of the global south have not put in sanctions, even if they disapprove of the invasion. Each for its own reasons. Its OWN reasons, not what other nations want.

India is considered part of the Global South, as was China.

Those nations are huge, but none of them are potential geopolitical players like the West, China, or India.

Even if they all maintain strong independence and current borders, chances are most of the countries of SouthEast Asia will lean towards stronger alliance and economic cooperation with one of these three.

I think Mike's point is with populations of their sizes, they could be by 2100. I think India's star will have risen the most by then, but 80 years is a long time in geopolitics.

Meclazine for Israel:
China will create a protectorate around it's borders.

They can do that economically. And they will pay for it with the oil.

The Sultan of Brunei is killing it down there. His new flock of 2023 Ferrari's and McLaren's should be arriving early this year.

As if to drive home that point, 80 years ago from now was......1943.
