Do you think Jason Aldean is a bigot, given his latest song, his history of celebrating the Confederate flag, and not caring for Black fans?

He's at minimum "bigot-adjacent" or "bigot-tolerant". Maybe that's being generous, but I don't know enough about him to have a strong opinion.

I don't particularly care about this guy, but he definitely strikes me as a "if they can say it, why can't I?" type

I haven't seen any evidence he's racist.   "Try That In A Small Town" is awful for celebrating violence. I guess people won't criticize him for that because it's also true of a lot of hip-hop songs, so instead they criticize it by saying it's racist.

Samof94 threads ought to be treated like ERM64Man threads: the only acceptable way to vote in the poll is the way that will annoy OP.

His music is terrible and that is much worse than bigotry.

What I don't understand is how after stuff like that song people can still finger wag at people for not liking country music and write it off as "unliberal". Is hating country music actually considered a conservative trait now despite people like this guy and his song?

I still don’t understand why you think this is widespread behavior.

In any case, Jason Aldean doesn’t represent all country music, even today. Kacey Musgraves for instance is a country star and has some very liberal lyrics.

She hasn’t been country in a long time. Better choice would have been Maren Morris.

Coincidentally, she’s also been relentlessly attacked by Aldean and his former mistress now wife for not being racist like them.

I'm gonna say yes. Unlike some people I actually think the video made it seem slightly less objectionable, in that maybe there's now some plausible deniability where he could say he was just talking about looters and arsonists. But the song taken at face value makes it sound like he wants to shoot your garden variety civil rights protestor.

That’s… highly debatable. At best. You could maybe argue her last album diverged from country too much, but not to the extent Taylor Swift has, and Golden Hour was still a pretty country album that won a lot of awards for it. Not just from the Grammys, also the CMAs and topped the country charts. In any case I was thinking of her earlier songs like “Follow Your Arrow.”

If he actually said he doesn't care for his Black fans, then yeah that's like the definition of bigotry.
