When I stayed at a bed and breakfast on Cartwright Gardens, it appears that I was in King's Cross precinct in the borough of Camden. It seems like a haven of public housing, and a Labor area, but right on the borderline between the zone of the haves and the have nots.

Camden is a very interesting Borough. It's governed by a Lib Dem-Conservative coalition (with the Lib Dems as the major partners). Labour has been in decline in the area for a while, but King's Cross remains a Labour stronghold. The Greens have a presence, too. Breakdown of the council is as follows:

Lib Dem: 22 (+2 since 2006 election)
Labour: 16 (-2 since 2006 election)
Conservative: 13
Green: 3

Neither is surprising. I suppose the slightly different geography is probably explained by a fair few of the "born in France" being of African descent. Both obviously concentrated in wealthy areas.

The Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist, and Other maps are all fairly similar.

Actually, I think the Buddhist map is really funny.

Eh. There's that second outcrop in a heavily Jewish and Agnostic area, but funny?

Oh well. Maybe if I knew Birmingham. Tongue

I guess I'm the only one who finds hipster Buddhists funny. But the lack of Jedi makes me sad. ("Other" is concentrated in an area that makes me think it's mostly Jains, Bahai'is and some others of that sort.)

Hindus and Jews live together. Interesting.

That's common in N.J., too.

Do you think there is a reason for that or is it just coincidence? I don't think similar patterns exist in California.

Well, in N.J. it's because they tend to be the two wealthiest communities (alongside Armenians and Anglos). Obviously not true of Hindus in Britain, though.

Note that areas with poor Jews or poor Hindus tend not to have both.
