Ten years ago, Mitt Romney began his term as governor of Massachusetts.

Do you think a governor of a state would pay no taxes to the government?

Do Liberals hate wealthy Americans who have low tax rates because of capital gains and investments?

What is the salary of sitting governors and what is their tax rate?

I think its disingenuous for Harry Reid to claim that Romney paid no taxes for ten years and imply Romney lied on his tax forms.  Its a statement made to stoke Liberal anger and middle class resentment, without looking at the facts of Romney's employment history for the past ten years and his work salary.

Perhaps Reid is just trying to trick Liberal activists into thinking that the Tax Rates are unfair, and that a Flat Tax is needed.

Reid is playing an old LBJ trick. When Bob Schieffer and WaPo are calling a Dem a McCarthyite...

I have no reason to believe he did until he releases his tax returns. Wink

I don't think Reid is even referring to the 2000's. I think he means the 1990's. Debbie Wassermen Schultz is demanding all 23 years be released. The Bain years is what they are most after.

They now got an ad running with a guy claiming Mitt Romney killed his wife by shutting down GST Steel.

Since when do Republicans care what the "lamestream" media say?

After nearly two years of Republicans, at best, saying that they "took Obama at his word" that he was a citizen, I find the outrage over the doubts concerning Romney's taxes to be hilarious. Once again, the GOP can dish it out but not take it. Please, please let it continue.

The most likely year for which Mitt Romney paid no taxes was in 2009, after the Collapse.

Except you can't write off capital losses against ordinary income beyond a measly $3,000 per year.  So no.

The better question is, was he required to pay taxes?
